Health & Wellbeing
If your health and wellbeing isn't in tip-top shape it can affect your academic life. The Union's Advice Service can offer advice and direct you to services relating to your health and wellbeing, including mental health, sexual health, alcohol and drugs, and social/personal issues.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. There is lots of support available both from ourselves, the University and online. If you are unsure where to go, just ask us and we will help.
We run a mental health campaign called UPSUok. Find out more here.
University Support Services
Additional Support and Disability Advice Centre (ASDAC)
ASDAC is committed to supporting students who disclose a disability or require additional support for their academic studies. The service encourages any student to contact them, in confidence, who has a condition which may impact on their ability to access the campus, curriculum, teaching, learning, assessments and any other student-focused service.
Sexual Health & Relationships
Relationships can be difficult and have their ups and downs, especially when you’re away from home. We can support you with a range of advice, guidance and information relating to your sexual health and relationships.
Keep Safe with Contraception
We have free condoms available, pop into our reception in Gun House to pick up a pack.
For sexual health testing, and to learn more about contraception methods see letstalkaboutit.nhs.uk
The University Surgery has a Sexual Health & Contraception Clinic that is open every Tuesday between 09:00am to 12:30pm. This booked appointment clinic is available to University Surgery registered patients only.
Alcohol & Drugs
We understand that alcohol is a big part of the University lifestyle and it is important to be aware that you can make better choices while drinking to ensure your own safety.
Drugs can also be an issue for many as addictions can easily get out of control.
If you feel that drugs and alcohol are becoming a problem for you or a friend, please have a look at these online resources.
