Portsmouth Students Vote For Top City Businesses
CITY businesses have been given top marks by over two thousand Portsmouth students in an Annual Survey.
In a series of open questions, students from the University of Portsmouth were asked to name their favourite businesses on the island.
The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union created the survey to find out which brands do the best job at looking out for their students.
Categories included: Hair and Beauty, Arts and Culture, Housing, Things to Do (Night and Day), Bars and Clubs, Independent Retailer, Takeaways and Eating Out.
Barbers ‘Razors Edge’ was rated first for Hair and Beauty with students commending its ‘faultless service’ and affordable prices.
Fancy dress shop ‘U Need Us’ was rated as number one Independent Retailer for providing students with a range of options for all their dressing up needs.
Situated on student-friendly Albert Road, Kings estate agents came up trumps for best housing service.
Law student, 23 year-old Bethany Moody said: “I let with Kings for a year and they could not have been better. They bent over backwards to fix things in the property, the deposit was returned promptly and in full - they were so helpful.”
Love for Gunwharf Quays was clear with the shopping outlet winning the category for ‘Things to Do During the Day’, the centre’s Vue cinema winning ‘Things to Do at Night’ and it’s Nando's restaurant coming first for ‘Best Place to Eat Out’.
Unsurprisingly, Domino’s was the favourite in the takeaways category with Shake and Grill and Subway also scoring highly.
Bustling nightclub Astoria was rated first in the Bars and Clubs category as a result of its ‘friendly service’ and ‘cheap drinks’.
Portsmouth Museum was highlighted as the best place to go for Arts and Culture in the city due to its extensive history about Portsmouth and interesting artefacts.
