Making memories

It’s never too late to get involved with your SU

Whether it' your first year or your final one, it's never too late to get involved with the Students' Union

Did you know that you're automatically a member of the Students' Union from your first day at the University of Portsmouth? Here's a little about how we can help make your time unforgettable as a student at Portsmouth.

Try weird and wonderful things

What better time to try something new than at University? We've got a wide range of student groups to get involved with and have even teamed up with the University's Sport and Recreation department to deliver competitive sport.

If you're not sure whether something's right for you, get involved for free with our 'Give it a Go' sessions in October. If there's still not what you're looking for you can even start your own society.

Stand out from the crowd

Being part of a student group helps you develop all kinds of transferrable skills. You can even go one step further, being part of a group's committee can help you gain important leadership, organisational and even financial skills.

Make friends for life

The Students' Union is a great place to make new friends by bonding over a shared passion.

Meet people by joining a group, getting involved as a student representative or even attending one of our many exciting events throughout the year. Check out our What's On page or follow our Facebook group to get the latest updates on what's happening at The Union.

Help shape your experience

We care about making sure the student voice is heard and our students are represented We have a number of ways you can get involved in making change and representing your peers.

  • Become a Course Rep.
  • Make change across the student experience by submitting a Have Your Say idea.
  • Become a member of the Union Actioning Body - the group of students who review Have Your Say ideas and decide whether they can be actioned.
  • Nominate yourself as a Sabbatical Officer in the next Student Elections.

We want to help you have the best time at university, but we also understand that life has its ups and downs. Whether it's tension with your housemates or feeling overwhelmed with deadlines, our Advice Service is on hand to help.
