Have Your Say
Waterhole Bar update
Last week a working group, consisting of members from both the University and Students’ Union, met to discuss the next steps in the development of the previous Waterhole Bar area.
Following student feedback, via The Union’s Have Your Say platform, members of the Sabbatical Team, who are on the working group, discussed possible solutions for the space. From this meeting it emerged that the bar had lost in excess of £70,000 last year and therefore the University took the difficult decision to close it. With no sign of financial improvement the University do not plan to reopen the bar, believing any money invested to keep the space open could be better utilised elsewhere amongst the student body.
Although some students will be disappointed by this news, it is now an exciting time in shaping the space to meet the needs and wants of an increasingly diverse and inclusive student community. The working group are inviting feedback from the student body to develop ideas as to how to best utilise the space. All ideas can be logged here. The deadline for suggestions is the 18th November.
