Last night my boyfriend and I were hugging when someone came over to us and had a homophobic rant. Very quickly their friends came over and pulled him away. It made me think how important it is for people to consider where they stand if incidents like that happen. As a straight person who observes an incident like that, would you stand there and do nothing, or would you jump in and try to help? As a gay person when you’re attacked and someone who is not gay stands up to support you, it's the best feeling in the world. That’s the reason I insist on saying LGBTQ+, the plus is a huge thing. The plus stands for all those people who support us, without them we would never be where we are today.

February is LGBTQ+ History Month. Read about the work we are doing to support Stonewall's 'Acceptance without Exception' campaign in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Find out how to safely become an Active Bystander and stand up against abuse.
