The post

The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union is a vibrant, forward thinking organisation with a vision of delivering ‘a Positive Impact with every Portsmouth student’. We are looking for a student to actively promote the benefits of UPSU and select third parties in face-to-face delivery to students at key outreach events.

  • Available shifts will be distributed to registered team members who can opt-in to work the shifts that fit around your studies.
  • Volunteers will be responsible for engaging in conversations to enable a ripple effect of community feeling amongst the student body.
  • Outreach activity is the core function of the volunteer role and will require volunteers to provide students with information, provide department contact details where appropriate and collect student feedback.
  • The Union considers regular and ongoing personal development/training as essential to role delivery and Union development. One of the core aims for this volunteer programme is to provide students with a valuable volunteering experience that will upskill them to help further their personal and professional development.

Skills you'll need

  • You’ll need to be a University of Portsmouth student to apply for this role.
  • Be able to remain calm and friendly under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Be passionate about the Union and the University.
  • Very strong communication skills and be able to provide excellence in customer care offering a memorable experience at all times.
  • Highly motivated, energetic and enthusiastic.
