Student Groups are a great development opportunity and a great place to find new friends, build a community and have a sense of belonging while at University.
Keep the Waterhole open
The Waterhole is a treasured bar for many students, where they have made many memories. It is essential for societies who host socials there and is generally a much loved social hub for students.

Update from the UPSU Team
An Update from Vice President - Activities, Tom Plant:
A meeting was arranged between the Sabbatical Officers and Mr. Nick Leach, Head of Catering for the University, and in this meeting, the process of closing the bar and the reasons for it were explained. We were also given some of the financial figures that essentially showed why the bar had to close. A working group was then set up to decide what should be put in the former Bar space, the Students' Union Deputy CEO sat on this group as well as two Officers, generally this was Gerard and Helena, with the others occasionally going in their place. UPSU gave good input into deciding how to use this space and develop it into a comfortable social study that when complete will be a really nice space for students to use. Unfortunately, like many projects this has been delayed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 but we all look forward to seeing it when it is complete.

Update from the UPSU Team
Dear Charlotte,
Thank you for submitting a campaign through our Have Your Say (HYS) platform! I thought I would give you an update as to what the next steps are and the timeline for these.
The Union Actioning Body will be meeting within 10 working days to discuss the campaign, as per the terms of reference. In recognition of your campaign this has been brought forward. Once the meeting has taken place we will be able to provide you with another update, which will also be visible on the HYS webpage.
More information about the processes can be found here: https://hys.upsu.net/page/how-it-works
