Annual Members Review
Annual Members Review (AMR) — 2025
Have your say on UPSU’s finances, officer work, and policies.
What is the Annual Members Review?
The Annual Members Review gives University of Portsmouth students the opportunity to:
- Review how UPSU spent its money
- Hold officers accountable
- Decide whether key policies continue
As members of UPSU, you have the opportunity to ensure our organisation remains relevant and ensure we are working on what matters to you. As a membership organisation and a charity, this Annual Members Review (AMR) process serves a similar purpose to an Annual General Meeting - ensuring we continue to serve our members.
How AMR Works
1. We publish key information
Financial accounts, officer reports, and policies due to lapse.
2. You give your feedback
You complete each survey and tell us what you think.
3. We analyse submissions
UPSU gathers trends, common themes and recommendations.
4. Students influence decisions
Final results are published in April/May, shaping the next academic year.
1. Financial Accounts
Review UPSU's spending from last academic year. You can either read the whole report, or read through the summary.
This can be a bit complex, so here a few terms that we sometimes summarise in the reports for you to understand:
- PSUT: Portsmouth Students' Union Trading. This is the “trading” arm of the Students' Union and they generate income for the charity, through the Union Shop and our commercial partnerships.
- Management Income Charge: This is the payment PSUT (our trading arm) makes to The Union to cover costs like salaries and rent, which The Union pays for upfront.
- Operating Costs: This covers things like rent, insurance and staff costs.
