Our club aims to provide accessible and affordable polo to university students studying in Portsmouth. We cater to all abilities, from experienced players down to those who have never sat on a horse before. We're firm believers in “grassroots” polo and encourage those who have never played polo to give it a go. 

We're very lucky to work alongside Conroy Polo who are based in Guildford, Conroy Polo offers fantastic access to polo, from learning to ride, to stick and balling as well as providing our ponies at national competitions such as the Schools and Universities Polo Association SUPA Winter and Summer Nations. UoP Polo Club prides itself on its ability to send its members to the Winter and Summer Nationals. Training with Conroy polo made it possible for us to enter teams into Summer and Winter nationals, having just finished we were delighted to walk away with our B3 team placing 2nd in their division it's even more impressive when you realize that none of those members had played polo before September 2021 with it being their first grass tournament. This is just one display of how working alongside Conroy Polo has paid off. 

We regularly run lessons, depending on the uptake there is at least one lesson every week, however, we can run more if necessary. Alongside the group lessons were able to offer Wooden horse lessons which are one on one with Ryan Conroy. Wooden horse lessons are a fantastic opportunity to solely focus on your technique. We also enjoy hosting interclub chukkas where our own members play off against each other. Our lessons are bookable through a distributed booking system, lessons are filled on a first come first serve basis however changes may be made to accommodate for transport, etc. We encourage our members to help transport each other to Polo Lessons and request that drivers are renumerated for their petrol costs.
