The Glow Up Lab
-
Tuesday 17th Nov 17:00 - Tuesday 17th Nov 20:00
- From £8.00
- Neptune Building | The Space (Floor 2)
Skincare. Haircare. Wellness. Colour analysis. Nails. Henna. Matcha. All in one place.
The Glow Up Lab is an interactive beauty, wellness and self-care event where you can spend the evening moving between different experiences, treatments and workshops, getting personalised advice from professionals, learning new skills and trying things for yourself.
Once you’re inside, the space is yours to explore. Head for an express manicure, sit down with a trichologist to find out what’s really going on with your hair, discover your colour season, or grab a matcha and get some freebies.
What can I do?
FORMULA 01: Create Your Own Cleanser — powered by Lush
Get hands-on with skincare as the team from Lush Portsmouth takes you through creating your own fresh cleanser. You'll learn a little about what goes into the products you're putting on your skin before getting involved yourself and creating a cleanser of your own.
And yes, you get to take it home.
FORMULA 02: Find Your Colours — with With Style Co.
You've heard of colour analysis all over TikTok. Now find out yours.
Jennifer, a personal stylist with over a decade of experience and the founder of With Style Co., a personal styling company, will come in to determine your colour season. Sit down for your own mini colour analysis and discover whether your complexion leans warm, cool or neutral, which colour season you fall into, and whether gold or silver jewellery is most complementary to you. If you've ever wondered why one colour makes you look suspiciously well-rested while another makes it look like you've been awake since Freshers' Week, find out here.
FORMULA 03: Hair + Scalp Analysis
Have your hair and scalp examined by a trichologist (medical specialist) with a micro camera, and get professional, personalised advice on your hair and scalp health. Whether you're dealing with dryness, oiliness, breakage, product build-up or you're simply curious, this is your chance to ask someone who actually knows.
All hair types and textures are welcome (I'm looking at you, my 4c friends).
FORMULA 04: Advanced Skin Analysis — with Niu Clinic
Niu Clinic will be bringing along their professional skin analysis machine. You'll place your whole head inside the scanner while it captures and analyses your face, looking beyond what you can see in the mirror to give you detailed information about your skin. The analysis can reveal things such as UV damage, skin age and other aspects of your skin's condition and health. Once you've got your results, the team will talk you through what they mean and give you personalised advice on how you can look after and improve your skin health based on what the machine has actually found.
Come makeup-free to use the machine, but don't worry if you're coming straight from uni or somewhere else. We'll have wipes available so you can remove makeup and surface impurities before your scan.
FORMULA 05: Your Wellness MOT — with Revive Clinic
The glow-up isn't just what's happening on the outside. Sit down with the team from Revive Clinic for your own mini Wellness MOT and talk through the areas where you haven't quite been feeling your best. Maybe your energy has disappeared. Maybe you're stressed. Your gut isn't happy. Your mind won't switch off. You're feeling anxious. Or you can't put your finger on what's wrong, but you know you haven't been feeling 100%.
This is a chance to talk it through and get practical, personalised suggestions for supporting your wellbeing from a wellness perspective. You'll also leave the consultation with a free protein bar and drink to take away.
FORMULA 06: Do Your Own Henna
Rather than simply having your henna done, learn how to do it yourself. Join a guided henna session where you'll learn the basics of working with a henna cone before having a go yourself, with stencils or freehand.
FORMULA 07: Express Nails — powered by BlackBox Creative Studios
A little nail appointment without losing half your evening to the salon.
The nail techs from BlackBox Creative Studios will be joining us for express treatments throughout the event. Get a express gel manicure for a fresh set of polished nails and leave with your choice of flash nail art on your pinky finger.
FORMULA 08: Matcha — from MadeBrisk
Because apparently no glow-up is complete without an iced matcha. Stop by MadeBrisk for your matcha fix while you make your way around the Lab.
How does the event work?
Your ticket gives you entry to The Glow Up Lab and access to the experiences inside. There’s no set timetable as the event works on 'fair-like' (different areas you can move between); arrive, explore the Lab and choose the experiences you're interested in. Experiences are on a first-come, first-served basis, with some available while stocks last and some with limited capacity (particularly for one-to-one consultations and treatments). There may be queues during busy periods, so we recommend arriving with plenty of time to explore.
Who is The Glow Up Lab for?
Everyone.
Beauty and self-care don't have a gender, and neither does this event. The experiences have been painstakingly chosen so you can explore the things you're interested in, whether that's your hair, skin, inner wellness, or simply trying something you've never done before. You can come knowing your exact skin type, colour season and hair porosity; or having absolutely no idea what any of those words mean.
This isn't about becoming a "new you"; The Glow Up Lab isn't a makeover, and you definitely don't need one. It's about experimenting with the things that make you feel good.
One last thing before you leave...
We're not sending you back out into Portsmouth empty-handed. If you attend The Glow Up Lab, you can pick up a free Lacoste mini Eau de Parfum to take home, courtesy of The Perfume Shop. Yes, Eau de Parfum. Not Eau de Toilette. We don't cheap out on you. These will be available while stocks last, so once they're gone, they're gone.
We'll see you in the Lab.
