Student Elections Results 2024!

A full breakdown of this years Election results! And a huge thank you to the 3,381 who turned out to vote in this years election!

Firstly, a huge thank you to every single one of you who voted in this year's elections to decide your 2024/25 Elected Officer team!

Here at the Union, we use the single transferable voting system to decide our elections. If you aren’t too sure on how this works, our friends at Lincoln SU have created a quick little video explaining it using chocolate! 

The full breakdown of this years elections are as follows:


Academic Representation

For the position of Academic Representation Officer, 2,409 students voted for this position and the quota was 1,205. This election went to 1 round.

In the first round, No Suitable Candidate (NSC) received 194 votes

Marija Solic was elected with 2,215 votes in the 1st round

Democracy & Campaigns

For the position of Democracy & Campaigns Officer, 2,451 students voted for this position and the quota was 1,226. This election went to 1 round.

In the first round, No Suitable Candidate (NSC) received 112 votes 

Simba Dube received 925 votes 

Anwar Jawula was elected with 1,414 votes in the 1st round

Development Officer

For the position of Development Officer, 2,515 students voted for this position and the quota was 1,258. This election went to 4 rounds.

In the first round, No Suitable Candidate (NSC) received 78 votes 

In the second round, Saiful Islam received 386 votes 

In the third round, William Reeves received 533 votes

In the fourth round, Pushpinder Virk received 747 votes

Dan Ummu-Salamah was elected with 1,308 votes in the 4th round

Learning Experience 

For the position of Learning Experience Officer, 2,467 students voted for this position and the quota was 1,234. This election went to 1 round.

In the first round, No Suitable Candidate (NSC) received 76 votes 

Aravind Gummadi received 487 votes 

Kajetan Albin received 542 votes

Blessing Okafor was elected with 1,362 votes in the 1st round

Welfare

For the position of Welfare Officer, 2,651 students voted for this position and the quota was 1,326. This election went to 5 rounds.

In the first round, No Suitable Candidate (NSC) received 59 votes 

In the second round, Edward Elachi received 279 votes 

In the third round, Ines Brzychcyk received 642 votes

In the fourth round, Dionne Moore received 1,085 votes

Connor Sutherland was elected with 1,747 votes in the 5th round
