What's On

At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

UPSU are here to represent every student at the University of Portsmouth. We have many ways you can express your student voice, including: our Course Rep system, Have Your Say, Student Council, StART, Hot Topic, Annual Survey, Focus Groups, and more! Meet The Advice Team

Meet The Team

Hi, I’m Luke! I’m a Student Adviser at UPSU Advice, where I support students in understanding their options and navigating university processes with confidence. I studied my BSc (Hons) and MRes at the University of Portsmouth and have worked in student advice roles for the past four years, building experience in student support and guidance.

Alongside my role, I’m currently completing a PGCert in Homelessness, contributing to two university research projects, and working towards a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. I’m passionate about learning, research, and helping create supportive environments where students feel informed, respected, and empowered.

I am one of the longest standing Peer Advisors having been with the Advice Service for nearly four years. I am a final year student who loves reading, musicals, and all things Winnie the Pooh! I am passionate about the work that I do at advice and am always willing to help!

Your advisor will ask you about your situation and talk you through how to proceed, outlining some clear next steps to take. Any decisions made are completely your own as we are here to support students to feel empowered about the best path forwarded for themselves.

Our team of trained staff and peer advisors are on hand all year round to offer guidance when it's needed most. We work closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues that may arise and ensure that all students are treated fairly.
