Our Statement on Tour
Your Elected Officer team have released a statement for any students considering booking on to tour this year and what is really important for you to consider due to the pandemic.

Your Elected officer’s have released the following statement on tour:
We know this year has been particularly challenging for University students, your experience has been extremely different compared to years gone by. We are invested in trying to provide you with the best experience possible during these uncertain times. However, given how uncertain these times are, and the rules and restrictions changing almost daily, we wanted to speak to you about tour.
At the moment, given the data and the events of the past 10 months, we do not feel it would be safe for students to attend tour. We know it is ultimately your decision whether to book but wanted to highlight some key points to really think about before booking your tour.
- Tour companies are offering a ‘money back guarantee’, however there are tight restrictions on these types of guarantee, for example:
- If you have symptoms or have to isolate you will not get your money back
- If we are back into a tier system you may not be able to get your money back
2. Travel is not included in the price of your booking so, therefore:
- You have to pay for travel on top of the price of tour, this means that if tour is abroad and flights are canceled, you could lose more money as most flight companies do not guarantee refunds
- You will have to pay for an additional Covid test to travel- these can cost over £100
3. Travel insurance
- The price of travel insurance and exclusions regarding Covid 19 have increased, meaning insurance is likely to be more expensive and cover less.
4. Isolation on return
- You will likely be subject to an isolation period upon return to the UK.
REMINDER: PLEASE DO NOT PROMOTE ACTIVITIES under the banner of your Team UoP or UPSU club which includes travel or mass gathering. You are not permitted to use the University or Union's name, club name, or logo in any aspect of these activities
