At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

Student Leaders Administrator (Student Role Only)
We are looking for an enthusiastic student to join our Student Opportunities Team!
We are looking for a student to support Student Leaders projects, as part of the new Student Leaders remit. As a team member of the Student Opportunities team, you will be tasked with both project administration and management tasks; such as taking minutes, contributing to meetings, project planning, using Google Drive, setting agendas and scheduling meetings. Furthermore, you will gather and act on feedback, have to think strategically to help develop a brand new all-year training and development programme and network within the city with other stakeholders. You will be given the chance to develop these skills throughout your time at the Union. Within the Student Opportunities team, you will be empowered to lead your own projects, as well as support others.
The Student Leaders administrator will also be able to support the delivery of various different events. This may include campaigns, conferences, networking events or socials.
We’re looking for a student who is keen to get stuck in and make meaningful change at UPSU and within the city of Portsmouth. With your help the Union can provide students with better and more frequent opportunities for their own social and career development.
Skills you’ll need:
Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office suite and Google Drive
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels
Empathy and good listening skills
Outstanding organisation skills, including excellent attention to detail
A flexible and adaptable approach to work
A commitment to working in a fast paced environment
Highly motivated and enthusiastic
Strategic and logical thinking
Feedback gathering and acting on it

The Organisation
The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (The Union or UPSU for short) is a forward thinking, friendly organisation with a vision of “delivering a positive impact with every Portsmouth student”. As a charity led by its values and guided by its members, we offer a wide range of services and activities to support and enrich the lives of our students. UPSU employs approximately 28 career staff, a further 80 student staff and we work with over 1000 registered student volunteers and over 100 student groups.
