I will ensue information is sent out quickly and clearly while also usinf spcial midia to entice new members and keep current members llyal to the society. i will also use social imedia to take sugesstions from memebrs about possible society events. I will also ensure it is used to socity memebers know who the presedent secretary and welfare officers are so if an isse needs addressing a higher up in the society can deal with it.

Manifesto

Hello, my name is Lola, and I am running for Social Media manager! I have prior experience running social media accounts and would focus on not just sharing important information about socials, but highlighting the academic and creative work of society members and pushing science communication. I would do this not only through the existing Instagram page, but also through setting up a Twitter (X) account, to really get the society out there. Palaeontology is an underappreciated field of study, and I am truly dedicated to SciComm.

I am also interested in setting up a discord server for the society, in order to allocate specific spaces for different conversations – for example, different year groups, research topics and even less serious content (meme channel). The server would also make quick distribution of information very easy, as announcement channels can easily be set up. Channels could even be set up for helpful coursework materials for each year group, making access to important resources very easy.

Personally, I am extremely interested in pterosaur research – especially regarding their integument and lifestyle – and palaeoart in general. I would love to be able to allocate a post a month to some of the most interesting research and palaeoart that takes the fancy of or is created by our society members. I think this would really improve society engagement, and just be a lovely way to celebrate the society in general.

In conclusion, as social media manager I would be dedicated to not only the swift output of information about socials, but also highlighting our amazing members. I also have experience in programs such as ClipStudioPaint, allowing me to design posts. Thank you for your consideration!
