At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

If you are a Course or School Rep, these development sessions are for you!
Throughout the academic year, we will be running a series of interactive workshops designed to help you build the knowledge, confidence and skills you need to succeed in your role. Each session will last approximately 30 - 45 minutes, followed by an opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and receive advice during a dedicated Q&A session.
The sessions will be delivered by The Union's Representation Specialists and their Function Manager, with selected workshops delivered in partnership with the Careers & Employability Centre, depending on the topic.
This year's programme will cover a range of key areas, including:
- Chairing, Leading and Taking Minutes
- Confidence Building
- Communication Skills
- Patience & Adaptability
- Negotiation Skills
- CV Workshop with the Careers & Employability Centre
Our aim is to equip you with the skills and confidence to represent your peers effectively, develop valuable transferable skills, and empower you to make the most of your representative role while preparing for future opportunities.
