Hi there! 🌹 We’re the University’s Labour Society. We’re a free to join political organisation with close ties to the local Labour Party, running a mix of campaigning and social events. 

Our aim in the society this year is to create an active group of students that can promote kind leftwing politics both within the university and the local community. This will involve more formal events, such as campaigning with the local party and hosting speakers, but we also hold regular social events to meet and chat about the issues that are important to us. We’ve had drinks, gone bowling, sung kareoke - if you’ve got any ideas we’d love to hear from you this year! 

We’ve had great success in previous years, hosting vibrant social events and getting closely involved with the local party, including canvassing with local MP Stephen Morgan! The society was active in the 2019 election, helping achieve a large swing to Labour - one of three constituencies to increase the Labour vote in that election. In addition to this, we work with the other political societies at the university to promote leftwing ideals and to encourage healthy debate.
