It is Election Season here at the Union and that means only one thing... you're going to hear us talking about Elected Officers A LOT.

But WHO are the Elected Officers? What do they DO? What does this all MEAN?

Well, we'll save the existential crisis for another day, but check out all the information about Elected Officers below!

Elected Officers are five students elected each year by YOU, the student body! After the next few weeks of 'nominations', you'll be able to read all about the students who have put themselves forward to represent you, the students, and what they want to achieve. There are five roles, each with a different focus:

  1. Learning Experience
  2. Welfare
  3. Democracy and Campaigns
  4. Student Development
  5. Academic Representation

The Union is a charity run by students, for students

The Elected Officers are students who run for office, choosing to take a year out of study, or students in their graduating year.

The candidates then campaign, looking to secure your votes! They tell you what they want to do, to change, to make the University a better place.

When they have been elected, they work with us, the University and external partners to make sure you as students are represented in every way possible. They stand for the wants, needs and rights of the student population in Portsmouth and represent you nationally.

NOMINATIONS open Monday 25th January 2021 and close Wednesday 24th February 2021.

The manifestos are now available for you to read! Follow the links below to find out what the candidates hope to change if they become your Elected Officer team 2021/22!

Then... ELECTIONS WEEK

This is when you can vote for the candidates YOU want to see in office! Like the American Presidential Election or a UK General Election - but BETTER!

Because of current circumstances, a lot of the Student Elections campaigning and information will be online so it is accessible to everyone.

There will still be some bits happening on campus, but we want to make sure everyone can get involved and take part!

So keep an eye on social media and our website for more information!

As mentioned before, we are a charity run by students, for students and we want to make sure that students wellbeing, be it academic or personal, is at the heart of everything that we do.

If you want to make a difference to the lives of students, have an impact on the decisions made about the Union and University, and have a voice that is heard, this might just be the perfect role for you.

It is a fantastic job opportunity - especially for those graduating this year! It will help boost your CV and be a great stepping stone on your career path.

If you're not graduating, it is still a brilliant opportunity for you to make a difference. It will also look great on your CV for future prospective employers and you can make a fantastic wide range of connections.

If that isn't enough to convince you, there is a whole host of other great benefits too!

  • £19,100 salary
  • 30 days holiday (not including bank holidays and Christmas closure)
  • Working with a brilliant and dedicated team at the Union
