Hello and welcome to new students looking for information having received your A-Level results!

We are The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union - we work alongside the University of Portsmouth to enhance your student experience, help you when you need it and fight for your rights as a student.

But, enough about us for the moment - if you want to find out more about what we do, click here.

Today is about YOU!

The last year has been particularly stressful and confusing for students completing their A-Levels, but you've reached the end, met the light at the end of the tunnel and your next adventure is about to begin! But how do you start the next chapter?

When?

This year, A-Level results day has been brought forward. Normally students receive their results mid to late August. However, this year you will receive your results on Tuesday 10th August 2021, so you have enough time to log appeals if you miss out on grades needed for your preferred university. You will be able to pick up your grades from about 8am on Tuesday 10th August via your school, email, post or accessing them through UCAS.

Your school should have already told you if they are getting your grades by email or in the post, rather than in person.

How?

How have A-Level results been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic?

Like last year, exams were cancelled because of school closures and disruption to teaching during the pandemic and due to isolating. The Government announced in January that it was scrapping tests in favour of school-based assessments.

How have grades been decided?

Your grades have been decided through a whole host of methods, including mock exams, coursework, essays and in-class tests.

What Now?

… good question!

If you’ve got the grades - well done! Congratulations! Sit back and relax for a little while. You can celebrate with your family and friends and then the real work begins.

If you didn’t get the grades you were hoping for - don’t panic! It’s all going to work out okay.

If Portsmouth is where you would like to go, you can speak to the University Clearing Team. They are on hand to help you find your place at University.

You can speak to them by phone, online chat or fill in a short form. Find out all the information you need by visiting the University Clearing Webpage

The University's most popular courses will fill early, so get in touch as soon as possible to discuss your options.

You can also ask the University questions by filling out this form, or message them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

When you apply by phone or online chat, the University can normally give you a decision in a few minutes if you already have your results.

When you complete the application form, the University aims to get back to you within 1 working day if you already have your results.

The Clearing hotline is open:

  • 10.00am–4.30pm Monday to Thursday
  • 10.00am–4.00pm on Fridays

The hotline will be open for extended hours from A level results day on Tuesday 10 August 2021.

The number you need is: +44 (0)23 9284 8090

Every year, thousands of students find their place at University through UCAS Clearing or Adjustment. You are not alone and there are people to help. You’ll find your place!

We look forward to seeing you in October!
