We are looking for an enthusiastic student to join our casual staff team! 

Are you a creative, driven student eager to dip your toe into the world of marketing? We have a great opportunity to join our team and play an essential role in shaping engaging content across platforms that connects with the students at the University of Portsmouth.

You’ll work closely with our Communications Specialist and Graphic Communications Specialist, gaining hands-on experience and making a real impact.

What we’re looking for:

  • A creative thinker with a strong understanding of social media trends and student audiences.
  • Experience creating engaging content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
  • Confidence adapting messaging and tone for different audiences and channels.
  • An interest in storytelling, digital engagement and building online communities.
  • The ability to balance creativity with an understanding of brand consistency and organisational goals

Role Specific 

Social Media Content Creator

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Specialist and Graphics Communication Specialist to develop, curate and deliver engaging content across our social media channels, with a particular focus on Instagram and TikTok.
  • Support the continued growth and development of our social media presence by creating content that is relevant, authentic and engaging for our student audience.
  • Create content that reflects an understanding of the student landscape, including current trends, behaviours and the types of content that resonate with different student communities.
  • Apply and champion our brand guidelines, ensuring all social media content aligns with our tone of voice, visual identity and wider communications strategy.
  • Help embed our Membership First messaging across social platforms, ensuring students understand the value, benefits and impact of membership.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how communication styles differ across platforms, adapting content appropriately for Instagram, TikTok and emerging social media trends.
  • Stay up to date with the evolving social media landscape, identifying opportunities to improve engagement, increase reach and connect with students in meaningful ways.
  • Support the planning, creation and scheduling of social media content, contributing ideas and creative approaches to campaigns, events and key organisational messages.
