At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

We are looking for an enthusiastic student to join our casual staff team!
Are you a creative, driven student eager to dip your toe into the world of marketing? We have a great opportunity to join our team and play an essential role in shaping engaging content across platforms that connect with the students at the University of Portsmouth.
You’ll work closely with our Marketing Communications Specialist and Graphic Communications Specialist, gaining hands-on experience and making a real impact.
What we’re looking for:
- A creative individual with the ability to produce a broad range of content, including written articles, digital content, basic graphic design, photography and video.
- An understanding of the student and higher education landscape, including student behaviours, communication preferences and the types of content that resonate with university audiences.
- An awareness of how to promote Union activities through a variety of communication channels, including websites, email communications and other digital platforms.
- A confident communicator who can work with a range of stakeholders to gather information, develop content ideas and create accurate, engaging communications.
Role Specific: Web/Email Content Creator
- Work with the Communications Specialist and Graphic Communication Specialist to create engaging written content for the Union website, including blog posts, articles and student-focused updates.
- Assist with the creation of Student Emails, developing engaging copy and supporting content design to ensure communications are relevant and valuable to the student body.
- Support and create content that reflects an understanding of the student landscape, including current trends, behaviours and the types of content that resonate with different student communities.
- Apply and champion our brand guidelines, ensuring all communications content aligns with our tone of voice, visual identity and wider marketing strategy.
- Help embed our Membership First messaging across platforms, ensuring students understand the value, benefits and impact of membership.
- Stay up to date with the evolving student landscape, identifying opportunities to improve engagement, increase reach and connect with students in meaningful ways.

The University of Portsmouth Students’ Union (The Union or UPSU for short) is a forward thinking, friendly organisation with a vision of “delivering a positive impact with every Portsmouth student”. As a charity led by its values and guided by its members, we offer a wide range of services and activities to support and enrich the lives of our students. UPSU employs approximately 35 career staff, a further 100 student staff and we work with over 1000 registered student volunteers and over 100 student groups.
