What's On

At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

UPSU are here to represent every student at the University of Portsmouth. We have many ways you can express your student voice, including: our Course Rep system, Have Your Say, Student Council, StART, Hot Topic, Annual Survey, Focus Groups, and more! To celebrate International Women’s Day, we are running a free self defence class designed to build confidence, strength, and real-world skills.

Delivered in collaboration with the Basic Self Defence Society, this session will give you the opportunity to learn practical techniques in a supportive, empowering environment. Our instructors will guide you through how to punch effectively, break free from holds, and push beyond what you thought you were capable of.

Whether you have trained before or you are a complete beginner, this class is about feeling stronger, more aware, and more confident in your own body. Expect high energy, encouragement, and a room full of people backing each other.
