How Will This Idea Benefit Students?

There should be a shop available to students and other customers around the student's union which provides products without the packaging. A zero waste shop provides the opportunity for students to buy only the necessities and reduce their plastic waste. Most products are packaged with plastic or non-biodegradable substances. This shop would allow customers to bring in their own containers, measure the weight and then choose the product. The products can range from everyday household items such as individual toilet rolls to food, and beauty products such as shampoo and conditioner. The shop would also reuse the storage facilities and containers that they have to minimise was as much as possible. This would allow students to learn about different products and there could be other services such as downloadable recipes and interactive product information. The aim is to make the Student's Union more environmentally friendly and reduce waste which could potentially reduce cost.
