Some of you may have seen last night on social media that Eskimo 11 are attempting to launch “Varsity Wednesdays” - to clarify, this has been done without the Union’s knowledge or agreement and is not in partnership with us
We had no prior knowledge of this and our staff team and Elected Officers are currently working on what the next steps are. This has come as a huge disappointing shock to us. Purple Wednesday's have always been about creating a fun, safe and inclusive night out for all students in partnership with trusted venues, that also generated income to invest straight back into the student experience.
We are seeking options for a positive resolution, including taking legal guidance.
We appreciate students will have lots of questions, especially our societies. Please use this form to submit any questions, thoughts or feelings so that we can collate these. As soon as we have an update/answers to your questions we will contact students again.
Thank you for your patience.
Dan Ummu-Salamah, Development Officer (on behalf of the Elected Officer team and Students’ Union)
