Laptop Loan Scheme
The University are making it easier for you to study online!
- Posted Thu, Jan 7, 2021 1:00 PM
This year, you'll do more learning online. If you do not have access to your own laptop or a computer, this might make thing difficult. The University have a Laptop Loan Scheme, to make sure you have all the equipment you need for you to study for your degree.
There are multiple options available to suit your needs:
- there are long-term laptop loan schemes for undergraduates and postgraduates
- a short-term laptop loan scheme for isolating students
- short term loans from laptop lockers for all students
- you can also log in remotely to IT equipment on campus
Find out if you are eligible for the Laptop Loan Scheme here!
If you are eligible for the long-term laptop loan scheme, the University will contact you with a laptop loan voucher which you can use to order loan equipment. The laptop will be delivered directly to your preferred address - meaning you can use this wherever you are in the country and not currently at your term-time address in Portsmouth (you can use this if you're in Portsmouth too!).
If you don’t qualify for the long-term loan scheme, you can still access IT equipment on campus through the short-term loan scheme.
If you are in Portsmouth, you can borrow a University laptop for up to 12 hours from laptop lockers across campus. You need your student card to access the lockers. There are over 1,000 laptops available with Microsoft Office software, internet browser and printers installed.
If you've been asked to self-isolate, such as for two weeks by NHS Track and Trace, you may be eligible to borrow a University laptop for your isolation period if required. You can apply for an isolation loan using this online form.
You can find out more information about the University Laptop Loan Scheme here.
If you have a disability, mental health issue or long-term illness, you may be eligible to receive equipment tailored to your needs through the Disabled Students Allowance.
You can apply for the scheme using the online form (Undergraduate/ Postgraduate). The University will assess your eligibility and contact you if they need further evidence of meeting the eligibility criteria.
