About the 1 Hour Project

The 1 Hour Project connects University of Portsmouth students with expert professional mentors for career development, networking, and guidance. This year we are offering 50 of our students a chance to join the program. We particularly welcome applications from students who are first in their family to attend university, from low-income backgrounds, from Black, Asian or minority ethnic communities, or from other underrepresented groups in higher education.

Who can apply?

You may be eligible if you meet at least one of the following:

  • First generation university student
  • From a low-income household or receive a UoP bursary based on household income
  • Eligible for Free School Meals during school
  • From a Black, Asian, or minority ethnic background
  • Care-experienced, are bereaved of or estranged from family
  • Have caring responsibilities or previously had carer responsibilities
  • From a neighbourhood with low university participation
  • Have a disability or long-term health condition
  • From a refugee or asylum-seeking background

If you are interested please fill out your application here. If you're unsure whether you're eligible, please apply anyway - the 1 hour project reviews all applications holistically. Please note that applications are reviewed on a first come first served basis, so apply now to secure your spot.
