Left Society
Society
It is clear that capitalism is at the root of the biggest problems threatening humanity and the planet: the rise of the far right, a genocide in real time, attacks on trans & queer rights, climate change, welfare cuts targeting the disabled, rising cost of living, increasing surveillance, etc. The list goes on and on.
We are attempting to create a space for both theory and action. We can learn about the development of capitalism, how it contributes to various forms of oppression and environmental degradation, and how we can realise a more just system.
This space is open not just to Marxists but to leftists of all stripes. Solidarity is strength, it is good to have more people.
We hope to host a variety of events and socials, including but not limited to:
- Discussion sessions about contemporary issues and how we can affect them (and any follow-up activity this may entail)
- A reading group for various kinds of theory
- Screenings of radical media, including past and present revolutionary struggles
- Interacting with the community around us to try and understand problems and localised needs
If you have a question or just want to chat we have a discord server or you can get in touch on our Instagram.
