"We are deeply saddened to hear of the crisis unfolding in Afghanistan and would like to reassure you that the University and Student’s Union are here to support you. If you would like to see how you can help those affected, please view the petition written by your Learning Experience Officer on our website.

Information on current support available can be found on MyPort.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties due to the current situation, the Student Finance Centre will be able to support you with money advice and guidance, and information on hardship funds. The team can be contacted by calling +44 (0)23 9284 3014 or by emailing studentfinance@port.ac.uk. Where this relates to tuition fee payments, please contact the Income team by emailing income@port.ac.uk.

The Student Wellbeing Service is also available for confidential support. If you need someone to talk to about how you are feeling, please email wellbeing-admin@port.ac.uk. The Wellbeing team includes specialist trauma therapists who are highly experienced in counselling all students who have been through trauma.

Alternatively, you can access the Chaplaincy Team or Solent NHS who run the Solent Recovery College that place an emphasis on helping military veterans.

We also understand that you may be finding it difficult to access resources or complete your work. Please contact your Faculty MyPort Hub who may be able to help or contact your Personal Tutor or Course Leader to let them know.

If you have any questions or queries please contact international.student.adviser@port.ac.uk or by calling +44 (0)23 9284 3524 or +44 (0)23 9284 5121.

Finally, we encourage everyone to take what action is available to them. You can contact your local MP and ask them to lobby the government for greater action."
