What is Annual Members Review
Every year we get together for our Annual Members Review (AMR).
- Posted Thu, Nov 10, 2022 11:21 AM
Every year we get together for our Annual Members Review (AMR). This was originally hosted as a meeting on Wednesday 7th December, however not enough students were in attendance to help us make the important decisions. As such and in line with Bye Law 2 we will now be placing this content online in 2 stages where we want you to Tell Us what you think and then Engage with us on the issues that you have raised.
But what is an AMR?
Annual Members Review gives our members (students) at the University of Portsmouth - the opportunity to vote on issues and ask questions about where UPSU spends its money.
It's a chance for students to understand how the Union spends its money, approve affiliations to other organisations and ask Elected Officers questions about their achievements and plans for the year.
The process is broken into two stages:
Financial Reports- Review the financial reports and submit questions.
Policy Lapse- Take a look at the below policies and decide if you would like to vote on the policies.
PLEASE VOTE AND SUBMIT QUESTIONS HERE!
More details can be found below on the overall AMR process.
Action #1 Financial Reports
The UPSU financial reports give a breakdown of how the Students’ Union has spent its money throughout 2021/22. A brief overview is also provided with some key highlights. This document relates to the charitable part of the organisation.
Take some time to review the reports here. You will be asked if you have any questions and can submit them once you've reviewed the reports.
Action #2 Policy Lapse
Take a look at the below policies and decide if you would like to keep these policies.
What is Policy Lapse?
Policy Lapse is a really important part of this. We tell you about our policies for you to decide what happens next. Do we still believe in them? Or is it time to change them? Maybe now it's the time to remove them entirely.
Each policy passed by Student Council or previous AMR’s lasts for two years. After this point unless you tell us you want them to stay (at which point they then go out to a vote) they will be gone forever!
This is your chance to have your say on the important issues that affect you, our members.
So what do you need to do?
Below are the policies which are up for renewal at AMR:
- Anti FGM Stance
- The creation of bame history education workshops and the creation of the BAME solidarity pledge
- Elect a full time student representative for sport at the University of Portsmouth
What do I need to do now?
This is where the fun begins. You will also have the ability to vote on our Policy lapse items (here) that were requested to be kept.
This will be open online with the ability to vote at and engage with students on the issues at our roadshow.
A full list of our current student ideas, campaigns and policy can be viewed online on our Have Your Say platform.
