Welfare Officer

Welfare Officer - Connor Sutherland
Who is a Welfare Officer?
Hi! My name's Connor, and I'm your elected Welfare Officer for the 24/25 Academic Year. My role is to support you with anything welfare, or well-being related and connect you to wider support services within the University and city.

I’ve always been passionate about student safety and mental health, reflected in my studies and extra-curricular choices throughout my time at Portsmouth. This year I’m looking forward to continuing to work on night time safety in the city and implementing harm reduction practices and education. •ᴗ•
Who is Connor?
• I’m a Portsmouth Psychology graduate (2019-2023) who did a placement year as a wellbeing practitioner
• I’ve just finished my Masters in Health Psychology and will (hopefully!) graduate in 2024
• I was Vice President & welfare secretary of Street Skating Society (23/24), and you’ll still catch me most weekends skating the great local skateparks and street spots
• I was also the founder & president of Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) from 2021-24, working on projects such as drug harm reduction education and anti-spiking campaigns
• My other hobbies include; playing guitar, collecting LEGO, PC gaming, and getting tattoos (when I can afford it). If you see me out and about, come say hi, I’ll happily chat about these for ages!
