At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

Who is a Welfare Officer?
Heyy, I'm Srini Sathish Kumar, your Welfare Officer 26/27. My role is to help make sure your wellbeing and welfare are supported, and to create welcoming space for everyone whether you need support or to point you in the right direction or just someone to listen, I'm here for you. so you don't have to deal with it alone. I cant wait to meet everyone this year and make it a positive one!!
Who is Srini?
- International Student doing Msc in Data analytics
- Matcha, lilies and brown lipsticks are my go to
- You'll probably spot me dancing or convincing someone to try matcha
- I enjoy trying new hobbies and believe life's more fun when you're always try something new and stepping out of your comfort zone
- I'm very much self aware of my likes and dislikes especially with fashion, beauty and food
- I love exploring new places and do a historic research on it; I love taking picture and content creation
- My playlist is my therapy
Manifesto Pledges
Pledge 1: Stronger Housing Support
- Housing issues, including affordability and understanding tenancy agreements, require better support for students. Advocacy for clearer guidance on tenancy rights and ongoing communication with university partners regarding student housing concerns.
Pledge 2: Clearer Financial Support
- Financial pressure impacts student well-being, making access to clear information about hardship funds and financial assistance essential.
Pledge 3: Breakfast mornings
- Proposal to introduce regular free or low-cost breakfast mornings to provide practical support for students.
Pledge 4: Free period products
- Push for availability of free hygiene products, particularly period products, in key campus washrooms to promote dignity and equality.
Pledge 5: Safer campus
- Commitment to enhancing student safety through clear reporting systems, support for survivors of harassment, and promoting consent education and sexual health awareness.
