At UPSU's Advice Service, we offer confidential, impartial and non-judgemental support on a range of academic and university issues that may affect your experience. Our team of trained advisers are on hand all year round to offer help where it's needed. The independent service works closely with the University of Portsmouth to resolve issues and ensure students are treated fairly.

In accordance with Bye Law 5 of the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union, I hereby announce the notice for the election of the following roles: Welfare Officer, Development Officer, Academic Representation Officer, Learning Experience Officer, and Democracy and Campaigns Officer.
This notice contains the following information:
i) The position for which nominations are invited:
The positions in which nominations are invited are:
Welfare Officer
Development Officer
Academic Representation Officer
Learning Experience Officer
Democracy and Campaigns Officer
**Candidates will need to be available for Candidate Academy events on either Saturday 3rd February or Wednesday 7th February 2024. These will be held digitally and physically. **
ii) The date on which nominations shall open:
Nominations open at 9AM (0900) on Monday 4th December 2024.
iii) The date and time when nominations shall close:
Nominations shall close at 4PM (1600) on Friday 2nd of February 2024.
iv) Details of the constituency of Union members who are eligible to participate in the election:
In accordance with Bye Law 1 and article 10 of the University of Portsmouth Students’ Union Memorandum and Articles of Association, Full Members of the Union are eligible to participate in elections.
Full Members are defined as:
- Any student on a course that leads to a University of Portsmouth award;
- All Union Elected Officers;
- Each and every student who has not opted out by notifying the University of Portsmouth of his or her wish not to be a member of the Union and;
- The Officer Trustees of the Union;
- A member shall cease to be a Member of the Union if he or she ceases to be a student or he or she ceases to be an Officer Trustee;
- Affiliate members of the Union who are not registered students at the University of Portsmouth are not entitled to participate in elections.
Students must be a registered student at the University of Portsmouth for the 2023/24 academic year and fulfil the individual eligibility requirements stated in the role descriptions. Students are not able to run for more than one of the above positions.
v) Eligibility of voting:
In accordance with Bye Law 1 - Membership:
- All students studying at The University of Portsmouth outlined above whose degree leads to an University of Portsmouth award; or
- Exchange Students whose home institution is based abroad but are currently on an exchange based at the University of Portsmouth; or
- Students who are studying at the International College Portsmouth (ICP).
vi) Details of where nomination forms submitted and to whom enquiries should be directed:
The nomination form is accessible, and can be completed by students, at www.upsu.net/elections

vii) Voting Times and Locations:
Voting in the Student Elections will open at 9am (0900) on Monday 19th February 2024.
Voting will cease at 1pm (1300) on Thursday 22nd February 2024.
Voting will be held online at www.upsu.net/elections for the duration of the time specified above.
UPSU reserves the right to change, move, open or close physical polling stations at short notice should government / University regulations permit.
viii) Results Announcement:
Results will be announced at ‘results night’ hosted from 6pm (1800) on Thursday 22nd February 2024.
