Report hate crime and harassment
We ask everyone to respect and support each other and we want to remind everyone that racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, incitement or harassment of any kind will never be tolerated. If you've been a victim of or witnessed any hate incident or crime, we strongly encourage you to report it. You can report it directly to the police, to the University or both. Even anonymous reporting can help to inform actions and policies to tackle issues.
Community Security Trust also has a national emergency number which should be used to report antisemitic attacks, alongside calling 999 - this is 0800 032 3263.
Tell Mama is a confidential support service for those suffering from anti-Muslim hate and discrimination across the UK. Their website features a number of different ways to report anti-Muslim incidents, including via phone or WhatsApp.
Choosing to attend demonstrations or protests? How to do so safely
Whilst we understand and support an individuals' choice to demonstrate or protest, please be conscious of staying safe whilst doing so.
- Do not break the law, this includes acts of hate crime
- Follow guidelines set out by organisers and local authorities
- Look after those around you and make sure they are safe
- If you feel unsafe, report this to police or local authorities in attendance
- Look after your own wellbeing, such as staying hydrated
